So what else can we throw??

Since the Krewe of Freret does not throw plastic beads, we’ve gathered a list of other items to give you an idea of what’s acceptable.
The below is by no means an exhaustive list, but we hope you get the idea!
We have, however, linked each of the below items for you in case you want to grab some! Remember, we also have stickers you can add to any throw (or its wrapping) in order to add the official KoF logo!

A message from Greg, co-founder and Captain Emeritus, on our standards for additional throws you may purchase from elsewhere:

Additional Throws Options

And so that we can be absolutely clear, here is what you CANNOT throw: (And yes, at some point along the way, someone made a not-smart choice to throw each of the below, hence the item(s) making the list. Yes, we are as dumbfounded as you are.)

  • No Dangerous Objects: Don’t throw or carry items that could cause harm, like sharp objects, bombs, or noxious substances.

  • No Animals: Don’t throw or hand out live or dead animals, insects, or marine life.

  • No Silly String or Confetti: Don’t throw silly string, confetti, or use confetti cannons.

  • No Toilet Paper (Except for Tucks):Don’t throw toilet paper or paper streamers unless you're with the Krewe of Tucks and using their approved, biodegradable paper.

  • No Commercial or Political Items:Don’t throw items with commercial, political, or religious messages, or those that can be redeemed for prizes or discounts.

  • No Large Paper Products or Plastic Bags: Don’t throw paper longer than 36 inches or empty plastic bags. Hand out bulk throws instead of tossing them.

  • No Sexually-Oriented Items: Don’t throw or hand out condoms, prophylactics, or sexually explicit items.

  • Throws Must Match the Parade Theme: Throws should either be plain or feature the parade's logo. No unrelated messages or images on throws.

Breaking any of these rules will result in permanent removal from the Krewe and fines from the City. Float Lieutenants will perform a check of all throws before and during the ride. We reserve the right to remove any plastic beads, including “big beads” that you bring onto the float.
